QUETTA: The Governor Balochistan, Malik Abdul Wali Khan Kakar has underlined the need to launch a comprehensive programme to highlight and resolve the issues of persons with disabilities (PWDs).
He also emphasized upon implementing the quota allocated for the disabled persons in the provincial and federal government departments.
The Governor was of the strong view that the persons with physical disabilities can also play important role for betterment of the society using modern science and technology.
He was speaking to a delegation of Coalition for Inclusive Pakistan Balochistan chapter who called on him under leadership of Ms. Sadaf Ajmal here at the Governor House on Monday.
During the course of meeting, the matters were discussed about allocated quota for disabled persons in government jobs, subsidy for them in educational fees, provision of medical facilities to them, making the transgenders useful citizens of the society, facilitation in preparation of national identity cards and disabled certificates besides other matters.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor referred to the disabled persons and said that they are disabled, but not destitute at all.
He stressed the need to launch comprehensive programme at the provincial level to project and resolve the issues being faced by disabled persons.
He gave patient hearing to their issues and assured that these would be presented to the concerned federal and provincial government departments in written for their sustainable resolution.
He said that the special quota has been allocated for the disabled persons in federal and provincial government departments, however, this must be implemented in true letter and spirit.
While assuring the disabled persons to resolve their issues, Governor maintained that the message of solidarity with them would be spread to the international level on this international day of persons with disabilities.
