Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi visited the residence of the relatives of the 6 people who lost their lives in the tragic accident in Defense Phase 7 at Shadab Colony Ferozepur Road. He conveyed deep sorrow and grief to the head of the bereaved family Rafaqat Ali and other family members, expressing heartfelt sympathy and condolences.
Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi recited Fatiha for the deceased and consoled the bereaved family. Rafaqat Ali provided details of the tragic incident, with Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi acknowledging the shared grief of the bereaved family, assuring them that the government stands with them.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the incident, labeling it not as an accident but a deliberate murder. He added that murder and terrorism charges have been added to the FIR. Addressing the victims’ family, he emphasized that their pain cannot be healed by words and pledged that justice will be served without yielding to any external pressures.
Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi, alongside Rafaqat Ali and other grieving family members, addressed the media, declaring the killing of six people in Defense as shocking and intentional. He highlighted that investigations revealed the incident was a planned murder, with evidence suggesting harassment before the tragic event. Despite the influence of the other family involved, Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi asserted that the police are proceeding impartially.
He assured the victim’s family of justice, with the DIG Investigation personally overseeing the matter. The Chief Minister mentioned the suspension of a policeman involved in harassment and expressed disappointment over confrontations during court visits. He assured the affected family that the government is committed to fulfilling its duty, with all possible measures being applied to ensure justice prevails.
In response to the incident, Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi directed the police to crackdown on underage driving and racing across Punjab, particularly in Lahore. He emphasized that actions would be taken against underage drivers and those engaged in racing. The Chief Minister urged parents to counsel their children against such activities, expressing efforts to curb racing in specific areas of Lahore.
Standing in solidarity with the victim’s family, Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi pledged support for the fair trial and affirmed ongoing efforts to bring all involved parties to justice. He concluded by stating that the registration of FIRs would not be halted to artificially reduce the crime rate, providing statistics on unregistered FIRs in various cities and emphasizing his personal monitoring of police performance on a daily basis. Provincial Ministers Amir Mir, Azfar Ali Nasir, Bilal Afzal, Inspector General of Police Dr Usman Anwar, CCPO Bilal Kamyana, DIG Investigation, Commissioner Lahore Division and other officers were also present on the occasion.
