Lahore, Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi visited Bund Road Controlled Access Corridor project today. CM inspected the route from Saggian up to Babu Sabu interchange and reviewed ongoing construction activities on the project.CM directed to speed up construction activities on the project. Mohsin Naqvi issued directions to further widen roads of the project adding that encroachments surrounding the roads should be removed. CM monitored the project site at Babu Sabu and while directing to further improve design of the project ordered to submit a plan in this regard forthwith. Mohsin Naqvi directed to make excellent management so as to ensure smooth traffic flow during construction work. CM was given a briefing about progress being made on the project. Commissioner Lahore division, CCPO, Deputy Commissioner, DIG Operations, contractors of both package and concerned officials were also present on the occasion. CM while talking with the media persons appealed to the masses to stay at their houses during holiday.Section 144 has been imposed under environmental and health emergency. We will not allow the people to come out of their houses unnecessarily. Their will not be much restriction on the Iqbal Day but later anti-smog measures will be strictly implemented. The lesser number of traffic on the roads will provide ease in improving the environment. Next four days are highly important regarding smog. We are in contact with the trader community. The trader community should realise that traffic will be closed and people will not be on the roads as well. The trader community will also make announcement regarding closing down markets.The steps being taken for the eradication of smog will definitely lessen the smog intensity. I have talked with the Governor State Bank regarding measures being taken for the smog eradication. CM stated that it is our utmost strive that Bund Road project should be completed by 31st January. The Ring Road circle will be completed with the completion of Bund Road Controlled Access project. SL3 and the Bund Road will be connected jointly. Work on all the important roads is ongoing and positive results will surface in future. Problems and inconvenience do persist due to under construction projects but 30 minutes journey will be done in 15 minutes on the project completion and will yield long term benefits. In reply to a question, Mohsin Naqvi apprised that SL 4 is a federal government project and the Punjab government cannot play its role in it. We are completing 6,6 years incomplete projects by striving hard.
