ISLAMABAD- In a highly urgent and impactful development, the Election Commission of Pakistan has sent a stern reminder to the Secretary of the Establishment Division, Cabinet Secretariat, Government of Pakistan, Islamabad. The directive, issued on October 26, 2023, calls for the immediate posting of senior federal government officers, signaling the gravity of the situation. The Election Commission had previously communicated on this matter in a letter dated October 24, 2023, which demanded a compliance report regarding the transfer and posting of officers within the ICT/Administration/Police departments. However, as of now, this crucial report has not reached the Election Commission. With resounding emphasis, the Election Commission now reiterates the urgency of transferring the Inspector General of Police and the Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad Capital Territory without any further delay. This directive holds significant weight, as it directly impacts the administration and preparation for impending national elections. The Additional Director General (Elections-I), Muhammad Farid Afridi, expressed the Commission’s concern through this vital communication.
