The Secretary, Emergency Services Department (ESD) Dr. Rizwan Naseer congratulated all the District Emergency Officers & staff of Motorbike Rescue Service (MRS) on completion of six years and managing 1.7 million emergencies in Punjab with an average response time of less than 4 minutes, which is an achievement even internationally. After the successful model of the Motorbike Rescue Service in Provincial Capital, this model was replicated in all over the Punjab, he said.
In this regard an event was organized at Command & Control Center Lahore to encourage the staff of Motorbike Rescue Service. The Secretary ESD Dr. Rizwan Naseer was the Chief Guest of the ceremony. The Ceremony was attended by Administrator (ESD), Divisional Emergency Officer Lahore, DEO Lahore, Provincial Head of Office Punjab, World Health Organization Dr. Jamshaid Ahmad, Staff of Motorbike Rescue Service, Safety Officers and Rescuers.
While speaking at the cake cutting ceremony of Motorbike Rescue Service (MRS), Dr. Rizwan Naseer acknowledged the services of motorbike staff, who have responded to 1.7 million emergencies out of which 687404 road accidents and 794740 medical emergencies in traffic jams and congested areas with narrow streets. He also said that the emergency response time has also improved significantly as the Motorbike Rescue Service can easily access the victims during traffic jams and congested areas. The Secretary, Emergency Services Department further said the Motorbike First Responders have enhanced operational efficiency of Rescue 1122 and overcome urban challenges in emergency response by ensuring immediate first-hand professional handling of emergency victims and provided a sense of safety amongst citizens of thick populated areas, congested street and in narrow roads.
Dr. Rizwan Naseer said that Motorbike Rescue Service is equipped with life-saving equipment such as Pulse Oximeter, Glucometer, Blood Pressure Monitor, Life Saving Medicines, Portable Oxygen Cylinders, Airway & Burn Kit, Nebulizer, Cervical Collar, Trauma Kit, Splints, is responding to over 1900 emergencies per day in Punjab. As a result of the training and equipment provided to the Motorbike staff they are able to manage 35% of the emergencies at the site of the incident thus reducing the burden on the hospitals. He said that Motorbike Rescue Service has turned out to be a very cost effective emergency response model and significantly reduced the burden on the ambulance service in all over the Punjab.
Secretary, Emergency Services said that data shows, MRS has responded to 687404 road traffic crashes, 794740 medical emergencies, 45805 emergencies of fall or slipping, 26197 occupational emergencies, 631 cases of drowning, 32850 crime emergencies, 20675 fire cases, 1054 incidents of building collapse and 67136 other miscellaneous emergencies. In the end Secretary, Emergency Services Department presented Awards to the best performing staff of Motorbike Rescue Service.
