Karachi (PR): Mr. Zubair Imam Malik, Pakistan’s Honorary Investment Counselor (HIC) in Angola, has said that Pakistan should look Africa to explore new export markets; broaden its export basket and curtail trade deficit through out-of-the-box solutions. He was speaking with a delegation of leading businessmen from African countries.
Mr. Malik added that he fully supports ministry of commerce’s look Africa policy initiative as Africa’s 54 countries have a population of 1.32 billion; and that, by any standard, is a huge geographically-contiguous market.
Therefore Africa can open the doors of enormous export potential to Pakistan’s products and services in its major industries and sectors; namely, value-added textiles; foods & beverages; IT & ITeS services; cement & other building raw materials and rice, fruits & vegetables, he added.
Mr. Zubair Imam Malik apprised that Board of Investment (BoI) will be pushing ahead with and facilitating Look Africa initiatives for the swift exploration of new export markets for the country; and, practically, which is only possible through tapping African & Central Asian states.
He also informed that foundation of his group of industries, i.e. Popular Group of Industries, is working tirelessly in interior Sindh since 1985. Now, we are educating 1,800 children and running 500-bed hospital for the less-privileged and plan to open a world-class medical college for the youth of the rural areas of Sindh, he added.
Mr. Zubair Imam Malik highlighted that for his services as CEO of Popular Welfare Foundation and as an accomplished philanthropist, the Government of Pakistan has conferred the prestigious Tamgha-i-Imtiazon him on this 14th August 2023. It is pertinent to note that he will be one of the youngest to receive such a state honor in philanthropy.
