98 percent target of polio immunization achieved as special drive concludes

QUETTA: Almost 98 percent target of special polio immunization campaign was achieved till its last day in 16 districts of the Balochistan province on Sunday.
The sources of Emergency Operation Center (EOC) for Polio Eradication informed that the special anti-polio campaign came to an end in 16 out of total 36 districts of the province on Sunday.
During the seven-day campaign, around 98 percent target of the campaign has been achieved in 16 districts of the province.
However, the EOC sources informed that some 3,000 parents have been reported who refused to administer the anti-polio drops to their children in the province.
The sources said that there are also some parents, who didn’t cooperate during the campaign to get their children vaccinated against the crippling disease.
It may be mentioned here that the campaign was run in the districts including Pishin, Chaman, Killa Abdullah, Sohbatpur, Killa Saifullah, Zhob, Shirani, Usta Muhammad, Lasbela, Ziarat, Barkhan, Musakhail, Sibi and Naseerabad.
It was targeted to vaccinate over 951,000 children below five years of age during the special campaign.
Needless to mention here is that in all six polio cases have been reported in the current year.
Three of the polio cases were reported from Killa Abdullah while one each was reported from Chaman, Quetta and Dera Bugti.
