31,000 Vehicles Fined, 50 Million Rupees in Penalties, Drivers Imprisoned

 

Lahore, June 27,2024: Crackdown on Smoke-Emitting Vehicles Across the Province to Combat Smog has started by the Transport department. 31,454 vehicles have been fined so far under crackdown against smoke emitting vehicles. More than 54 million rupees in fines have been imposed and 7,413 vehicles have been impounded in police stations for violation of smoke emission.

Furthermore Secretary Transport, Ahmed Javed Qaz stated that Due to dangerously high smoke emissions,31 cases have been registered and drivers have been arrested. He said, Fines have been issued to 4,470 vehicles without fitness certificates and in poor condition.

Secretary of the Punjab Provincial Transport Authority, Faisal Sultan, and his team deserve praise for conducting an excellent anti-smog campaign. He claimed that A public awareness campaign has also been launched to combat smog.

Qazi said that Water spraying is ongoing at bus terminals in Lahore to control smog. We are fully committed to implementing the environment-friendly vision of the Chief Minister of Punjab. It is not possible to eliminate pollution without the help of citizens. Let us all work together to secure the future for ourselves and the coming generations.
