QUETTA: As many as 23 passengers and some personnels of levies and police among at least 40 persons were killed mostly gunned down and some got injured by the unknown armed assailants in multiple incidents of terrorism occurred in different parts of Balochistan province including Musakhail, Kalat, Bolan, Noshki.
The official reports suggested that most of the terrorism incidents were occurred between the night of August 25-26.
Only in one horrific incident, some 23 passengers were gunned down after they were offloaded from the passenger buses and other vehicles in Rada Sham area of Musakhail, the official reports suggested.
The Senior Superintendent of Police, Musakhail Ayub Achakzai told that at least 23 passengers were killed after being offloaded from passenger buses and trucks in the Radasham area of Musakhel.
He told that the armed men blocked the inter-provincial highway and offloaded passengers from the vehicles after identification and then shot them dead.
Police and Levies reached the site of the incident and bodies were shifted to the nearby hospital, he added.
Meanwhile, speaking to the media, the spokesman of provincial government, Shahid Rind said that the militants had attacked on two to three fonts where they faced retaliation and resistance from the security forces and law enforcement agenceis (LEAs).
However, he added, that the terrorists exploited the dark to carry out the Musakhel attack where they offloaded the passengers from the buses and shot them after identification.
After the assassination of passengers, the armed men set ablaze around two dozens of vehicles and fled from the scene.
In Kalat, eight Levies personnel lost their lives in separate incidents on late Sunday night, according to police.
The SSP Kalat, Dostin Dashti, confirmed that the deceased included a police sub-inspector, four Levies personnel, and three civilians.
The police reported that an exchange of fire between security forces and armed assailants persisted through the night along Kalat’s national highway and within the city.
In another attack, Kalat Assistant Commissioner Aftab Ahmed and a Levies officer were injured during a shootout at a security checkpoint.
SSP Kalat stated that the incident occurred when unidentified gunmen opened fire. Both injured officers have been taken to a hospital.
Meanwhile, the bodies of six persons were found from the hilly area of Kolpur the same morning. The reports suggested that all of them were gunned down.
The local administration told that the bodies were removed to the civil hospital Quetta for identification and further necessary procedure.
In Noshki, five passers-by got injured as a result of mortar shell firing by some unknown armed assailants at a check post of law enforcement agency.
On retaliation, the armed assailants fled from the scene.
At the outset, thorough investigations have been started into the incidents of terrorism in different parts of the province.
