Islamabad, October 27, 2025: The Institute of Strategic Studies, Islamabad (ISSI), in collaboration with the Youth Forum for Kashmir, hosted the “Youth Policy Dialogue on Kashmir 2025”, engaging over 150 students from across Pakistan.
Participants discussed key issues including the Climatic Cost of the Kashmir Conflict, Women and Children’s Rights, Solutions for Resolving the Dispute, and Arbitrary Detentions. Chief Guest Charge d’Affairs Mr. Samir Ahmedli of Azerbaijan highlighted the UN’s role in conflict resolution, referencing Azerbaijan’s experience and Pakistan’s longstanding support.
ISSI Director General Ambassador Sohail Mahmood emphasized the importance of youth engagement, stating that Pakistan’s younger generation must advocate for Kashmir globally. Students proposed initiatives like digital memorials, climate diplomacy, and stronger media engagement to highlight human rights violations in IIOJK.
Experts, including Ambassador Abdul Basit, Dr. Muhammad Khan, Ms. Naila Altaf Kiyani, and Barrister Nida Salam, stressed the significance of the UN, international law, and proactive diplomacy in advancing Kashmir’s cause. Discussions also highlighted the links between conflict, climate, and humanitarian challenges in the region.
Ambassador Khalid Mahmood, Chairman Board of Governors, ISSI, concluded the event by urging the youth to continue raising awareness internationally, ensuring Pakistan’s efforts for a just and lasting resolution of the Kashmir dispute remain strong.
This dialogue marked a major step in empowering Pakistan’s youth to understand, advocate, and shape the global discourse on Kashmir.
