Provincial Minister for Irrigation Mir Muhammad Sadique Umrani visited the Ümraniye Dam in Istanbul’s Çekmeköy district, accompanied by Turkish officials. The dam, built on the principles of integrated water resources management, features upstream watershed management, significant water storage capacity, and irrigation of agricultural lands downstream.
During the visit, Minister Umrani proposed constructing a similar dam in Balochistan. He emphasized the need for further improvement in integrated water resources management, despite the Irrigation Department’s ongoing efforts in various projects. Umrani suggested adopting the Ümraniye Dam as a model for future irrigation initiatives in Balochistan to ensure effective water management and meet water needs in the region.
He also expressed interest in strengthening friendly and brotherly relations with Turkey.
