PESHAWAR- Under the special directives of District Police Officer Mohammad Azhar Khan, the district police conducted a comprehensive crackdown against criminal elements throughout May 2024. In a series of extensive operations, the police apprehended 209 most wanted criminals involved in murder, attempted murder, and other serious offenses. The operations against illegal arms holders led to the recovery of a significant cache of weapons. The seized arsenal included 19 Kalashnikovs, 12 guns, 283 pistols, and 3189 various bore cartridges. This crackdown aimed to curb the proliferation of illegal arms and enhance public safety. Simultaneously, the district police intensified efforts against drug trafficking, resulting in the arrest of 211 drug dealers. These operations, which targeted individuals posing a threat to the youth, yielded substantial quantities of narcotics. From the possession of these drug peddlers, the police confiscated 240.3 kilograms of hashish, 32.02 kilograms of ice (crystal meth), and 2.522 kilograms of heroin. Additionally, twelve suspects involved in drug-related activities were apprehended. The district police also dismantled several gangs engaged in motorcycle theft and other crimes. During these operations, stolen items, including millions of rupees worth of goods and mobile phones, were recovered and subsequently returned to their rightful owners after completing legal procedures. District Police Officer Mohammad Azhar Khan commended his officers for their dedication and emphasized the importance of sustained efforts to rid society of crime and protect the future of the young generation from the scourge of drugs. He assured the public that comprehensive and indiscriminate actions against the most wanted criminals, illegal arms holders, and drug dealers would continue with the same vigor and determination. This extensive crackdown highlights the district police’s commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety and security of the community.
