[Lahore] – Balochistan Food Authority (BFA) joined forces with Nutrition International (NI) to conduct a capacity-building visit to Punjab Food Authority (PFA) in Lahore. The visit aimed to empower and equip the newly appointed field officers and lab technologists of BFA with invaluable knowledge and skills related to food safety and regulation.
Over the course of five days, the participants embarked on an immersive journey at the Punjab Food Authority, where they engaged in a comprehensive program designed to enhance their understanding through a combination of lectures, lab sessions, and field visits alongside the experienced lab analysts and food safety teams of PFA.
During the lectures, they were educated on the significance of regulations and the pivotal role played by PFA in ensuring food safety. The participants witnessed firsthand the meticulous process of collecting samples using the FSO code and were also enlightened about the decoding procedure by the lab analysts. Furthermore, they were acquainted with various aspects of lab analysis, including the examination of water, juices, and other food products.
The visit also featured accompanying inspection teams to local Food Business Operators (FBOs), enabling the participants to gain valuable insights into compliance and inspection processes. This hands-on experience further enriched their understanding of the practical application of food safety standards.
In the final two days of the program, the participants attended lectures that covered vital topics such as labeling, food safety culture, licensing, registration, and legal proceedings. These sessions helped the individuals develop a holistic understanding of the regulatory framework and legal aspects surrounding food safety.
The program concluded on a high note with the distribution of certificates to the participants of the exposure visit from Balochistan Food Authority. These certificates symbolize the recognition of their unwavering commitment to upholding and promoting food safety standards in their respective roles.
